Vintage 2025
Between September 3 and 30 we brought in wonderfully healthy, crisp grapes from the vines – a vintage as fine as we’ve had in years. Here’s how it came about:
Neudegg, October 3, 2025. This year’s harvest began on September 3. In the gentle morning sunshine and comfortable temperatures, we set off with our long-standing team of pickers – Krzystof, Konrad, Michal, Kamila, Teresa, Bozena, T. Gerti and O. Pepi – to embark on what would bring us joy right through to Tuesday, September 30: picking the grapes of the 2025 vintage and taking it to our winery!
Why does this year feel so special? Well, the first months of 2025 were cold and dry. Spring brought more average conditions, though May felt on the cool side and June already quite warm. March was the only notably wet month; otherwise the season was dry, with occasional showers and no downpours. Flowering began a little later than in 2024, but finished quickly, and the steady alternation of sunshine and rain encouraged a slow, even growth. This was reinforced by significant diurnal temperature variation – even in July and August, evenings cooled remarkably once the sun had set. In short: a dry year, with moderate warmth and no hazardous weather events.
Come September, we were eager to start: For years we’ve strived to produce elegant wines – not heavy-weighted, but light and graceful, dancing on the palate. The timing of harvest is key to achieving this. The capricious weather of 2024 (remember the heavy rainfall mid-September, and the intense heat before and after that period) made things difficult then. So what a relief to find, this year, the grapes hanging on the vines in perfect health, so balanced and vibrant. We seized the moment, harvesting with all our energy until by September 30, every grape was safely in the cellar.
There, Stephan pressed, cleaned, and tended the musts with great care and – as ever – a touch of experimentation. Fermentation is already well under way.
The result? We’re expecting fresh, lively wines with wines at alcohol contents between 9 and 13% ABV. We can’t wait to share them with you – and as soon as tasting is possible, you’ll be the first to know. So, stay curious – and prepare to be delighted!
