Time to celebrate!
Vintage 2022
Harvest was finished on 21 October. An we are very happy about our 30th organic vintage. A review:
All in all, 2022 will be remembered as a year with little rainfall. The only real exeption was May – together with quite warm temperatures, risk of fungal disease and storms was particularly high back then:
Hail and Peronospora (downy mildew) posed risks and led to yield reductions of about a quarter compared to an avarage year like 2021. Similar to previous years, we started to harvest our grapes on 12 September. The beginning of harvest was unusually cold and came with a lot of morning mist. Harvesting conditions for us and our helping hands were not very pleasing but it was worth the effort as we expect white wines of 2022 to be very fresh, light and elegant. Towards the end of harvest on 21 October, temperatures rose and ripening of expecially red wine grapes accelerated. As a result, Zweigelt and Pinot Noir of 2022 will be dense, aromatic and ripe. In short: A vintage worthy to celebrate!
